Canticum Ventis

$10.00$50.00

“Canticum Ventis” is latin for “Song of the Winds” and was composed in 2019. The inspiration for the piece is the airy nature of the instruments for which this trio was created. This work is organized in a modified rondo form that features an intermingling of pulsating rhythms and blooming flourishes.

Although the tonal language sounds quite diatonic, if not quartal, in nature, the entire piece is based on two pitch sets. A simple pentatonic set provides the main theme, while its counter theme is the compliment of that set. The compliment occurs in the slower, more contemplative section towards the end of “Canticum Ventis”.
