“Never Lose Infinite Hope” gets its title from a quote by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. which states: “We must accept finite disappointment but must never lose infinite hope.” It is inspired by modern resistance to dark times and hope for a bright future in spite of all of the negative events.
The piece begins with a sense of uncertainty, but there is never much darkness. The harmonic language is largely based on triads and extended harmonies where dissonances often resolve. Sometimes the dissonances will just hang there… reflective of the uncertainty. Slowly the piece builds to a jubilant fanfare before finishing on a final meditation reminiscent of the beginning.
